Diversity Matters Award

Guidelines

The annual Diversity Matters Award is given to a law school that has demonstrated the highest level of outreach to racially and ethnically diverse students from the target audience of LSAC's DiscoverLaw.org.

We know that your institution understands that "diversity matters" in legal education and is dedicated to helping us change the numbers. Let's work together to provide students, early in the pipeline, with the information and guidance necessary for successful admission to law school.

Contest Criteria

The contest runs from July 1 to April 30 each year. In determining the winners, we will consider creativity, event attendance, and overall use of all funds. Other criteria will include

  • website promotion,
  • student registration on DiscoverLaw.org,
  • school participation in DiscoverLaw.org Months events, and
  • bonus participation (such as being a volunteer on diversity panels or on webinars and podcasts).

What's In It For You?

The top 10 finalists will be announced a month before the LSAC Annual Meeting and then recognized formally at the meeting. First-, second-, and third-place winners will receive trophies to display at their schools.

The prominent display of this award will show prospective students that your law school is seriously committed to diversity and will further assist your recruitment efforts directed toward racially and ethnically diverse candidates. Not only will candidates read about your commitment to diversity (in your marketing materials and on DiscoverLaw.org), visitors to your school will see your commitment on display. The name of the winning law school will be added to the Diversity Matters plaque displayed at LSAC headquarters in Newtown.
