Discover a Career in Law
Date: Tuesday, March 1, 2016

Location: Penn State’s Dickinson Law
Penn State University, Dickinson Law, together with LSAC’s DiscoverLaw.org initiative, invites students to discover a career in law. Participants will get an inside look at the law school experience by attending a mock law school class on legal issues surrounding the controversial stop-and-frisk policies of the New York Police Department, hearing from a diverse group of law school students on their experiences, and learning about available resources to prepare for law school and a career in law. This event has been designed to educate and inspire those from backgrounds who have been historically underrepresented in legal fields to explore a career in law. It is open to all high school students and freshmen and sophomores in college.
Discover Law Day
Date: Saturday, March 5, 2016
Time: 9:00 am–2:00 pm
Location: Seton Hall Law School
Rutgers Law School, Seton Hall Law School, and the Seton Hall Law Dean’s Diversity Council are pleased to sponsor a day devoted to introducing regional college students to a career in law, the advantages of pursuing a legal education, and the law school admission process.
The prospective agenda for the day includes:
- Registration and continental breakfast
- Prelaw advisor panel
- Keynote speaker
- Small group sessions with current law students
- Mock class
- Admission and financial aid discussion
- Current law student panel
These events are being held for select audiences and are not open to the public.
Upward Bound Discover Law Day (private)
Date: Monday, February 8, 2016
Time: 10:00 am–1:00 pm
Location: Albany Law School—Room E117 (Building 1928)
TRIO Upward Bound is federally funded by the US Department of Education to accompany income-eligible high school students on the path to developing the skills and motivation necessary to graduate, move on to college, and succeed. Students will attend a mock law class, as well as meetings with admission staff, law students, and alumni. Following this, they will tour the campus and meet with an NYS Assemblywoman.
Diversity Law Day (private)
Date: Friday, February 26, 2016
Time: 9:30 am–1:00 pm
Location: Syracuse University College of Law, Dineen Hall
At Diversity Law Day, students will have the opportunity to meet with current students, staff, faculty, and a recent alum. The day will start out with a welcome from a recent graduate of the college, and then will move to a student panel. After the panel, we will offer lunch where the students can meet with current students, staff, and faculty. The last part of the day will consist of a mock trial put on by current law students.
