Syracuse University College of Law (Syracuse, NY)

Syracuse Law Diversity Law Day

Syracuse University College of Law, the New York State Bar Association, William H. Johnson Bar Association, and the Law School Admission Council will cosponsor Diversity Law Day in Dineen Hall. This event is part of the Diversity Matters initiative to expose students from various racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds to the field of law. The College of Law anticipates welcoming approximately 250 students from the Syracuse- and Utica-area high schools participating in this year’s program. Students will hear from current law students, local attorneys, and recent College of Law alumni, as well as experience an interactive question-and-answer panel and a hands-on learning activity. This event will also include breakout lunch sessions, which will grant networking opportunities with College of Law students, staff, and alumni.

Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law (Philadelphia, PA)

Prelaw Diversity Day

Date: Friday, March 2, 2018

Location: Kline Institute of Trial Advocacy

Kline School of Law's first annual prelaw Diversity Day will include a law school admission panel with representation from five Philadelphia-area law schools and panelists and presentations to discuss the importance of preparation, professionalism, and diversity in the legal profession.

Columbia University School of Law (New York, NY)

Columbia Law School Discover Law Day

Date: Saturday, March 3, 2018

Location: Columbia University School of Law

Our Discover Law Day aims to teach interested minority students from high schools across the city about the legal profession and to encourage them to pursue legal careers. The daylong program includes welcome remarks from current students and the Office of Admissions, a law school graduate panel, lunch, and a panel of Columbia Law School students who will discuss strategies for achieving academic success in high school, college, and law school. Participants will also have the opportunity to partake in a mock class taught by a current Columbia Law School student.

Albany Law School (Albany, NY)

Upward Bound Program (private)

Date: Monday, February 12, 2018
Time: 10:00 am–1:00 pm
Location: Albany Law School, Room W120

Upward Bound is federally funded by the US Department of Education to accompany high school students on the path to developing the skills and motivation necessary to graduate from high school, move on to college, and succeed. Students in Upward Bound are either income-eligible or from families in which neither parent/guardian holds a four-year college degree. Twenty high school students will visit with us for a mock law class; meetings with admission representatives, law students, and alumni; and a campus tour.

Albany Law School (Albany, NY)

Cohoes High School and Hudson Valley Community College Consortium Mock Trial Teams Campus Visit (private)

The Cohoes City School District is located in the city of Cohoes, situated on the banks of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers. The district is about 10 miles north of the city of Albany in Albany County. About 1,900 students attend the Cohoes city schools. Some of the programs that the Cohoes city schools offer students include mock trials, computer instruction at every grade level, peer tutoring, opportunities to participate in music education, a variety of extracurricular activities, honors and advanced-placement classes, opportunities for college credit through high school courses, and several athletic teams. HVCC Consortium supports homeschooled students, and 13 students from its mock-trial group will join us.

Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University (New York, NY)

Discover Law Youth Day (private)

The Discover Law Youth Day provides high school and early college students with a sense of the law school experience and reduces the mystery or sense of unattainability. Participants will have an opportunity to meet lawyers, law professors, law school admission counselors, career service representatives, and current law students.

Albany Law School (Albany, NY)

Intercultural Undergraduate Moot Court Competition and Reception (private)

Date: Saturday, April 14, 2018
Time: 9:00 am–4:00 pm
Location: Albany Law School, Dean Alexander Moot Courtroom classroom

This event is being held in memory of the Honorable Theodore T. Jones Jr., Associate Justice, NYS Court of Appeals. Albany Law School has collaborated with college students from the University at Albany, SUNY; the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Siena College; College of St. Rose; and Union College as we host the third annual Theodore T. Jones Jr. Intercultural Undergraduate Moot Court Competition and Reception. Currently, almost 24 undergraduate students have expressed an interest in participating in this one-day moot court competition.

Prelaw Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Programs

First- and second-year college students: Get the skills you need to succeed in law school by attending a four-week summer prelaw program. There’s no cost to attend, and participants receive a small stipend.
